MANDATES

The Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) of Sierra Leone has a number of mandates, including:

·         Advising the government: The TEC advises the government on tertiary education. 

·         Regulating institutions: The TEC regulates tertiary education institutions in Sierra Leone. 

·         Ensuring quality: The TEC ensures the quality of university education in Sierra Leone. 

·         Promoting partnerships: The TEC promotes partnerships between higher education institutions, the private sector, and other stakeholders. 

·         Ensuring compliance: The TEC ensures that tertiary education institutions comply with the government’s financial management policy. 

·         Promoting fair play: The TEC ensures fair play in the admission of students and the recruitment and promotion of staff. 

·         Ensuring parity: The TEC ensures parity in the terms and conditions of service for staff. 

·         Depository of rules and regulations: The TEC serves as the depository of all rules and regulations binding the conduct of students. 

The TEC was established in 2001.
